What does EDF Trading mean to you? 

It is a fantastic opportunity to contribute and to learn. As part of the Meteorology team I am able to apply my weather modelling and research background to weather forecasting for energy. I enjoy developing analytical tools and exploring new methodologies to enhance our weather forecasting skill. It is a fast-paced and dynamic working environment where each day is interesting and challenging. There’s also an incredible pool of talent and skills within EDFT. I’m continuously learning from my colleagues.

What is the best part of your day?

Learning a new tool, coming across a new idea for weather analysis or helping people solve technical issues.

Can you name the biggest challenges faced by analysts at the moment? 

I think our main challenge is the changing data landscape and the growth of data. As a data scientist, I find that it’s always important to avoid the pitfall of 'drowning in information, starving for knowledge' in the context of Big Data. Instead we must keep the focus on developing actionable insights. With the ongoing data transformation within EDFT, it’s also important for analysts to take part in improving data standards and ensuring a smooth transition.
